Looking for a unique way to celebrate your baby’s first birthday? A cake smash photoshoot is the perfect mix of adorable portraits, messy fun, and unforgettable memories. While most families book cake smash sessions for their baby’s 1st birthday, they’re just as delightful for 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th birthday celebrations!

What is a cake smash photoshoot? 

My sessions are genuinely everything I’ve ever hoped they would be – a playful, three-part photoshoot designed to capture your little one’s personality and joy. My goal is for you to walk away with a beautiful collection of memories to fill your heart and your home.

The session includes:

  • Mini Portrait Session – Sweet birthday portraits and natural, candid shots of your baby playing and interacting with the camera. Siblings and parents are welcome to join in! 
  • Cake Smash Time – Watch your baby dive into their birthday cake for the first time! Expect giggles, sticky fingers, and those adorable frosting-covered smiles; I’ll be camera ready to capture all the expressions, their hands, feet and face covered in birthday cake as you watch and soak in all of it. 
  • Bubble Bath Splash – End the session with a bubbly bath to clean up the mess and wind down. It’s fun, photogenic, and nap-inducing… it’s a win win win situation.

What’s Included in Your Cake Smash Session?

  • Client Wardrobe – Choose from a curated selection of adorable outfits for your baby.
  • Victoria Sponge Cake – A simple cake is provided. If you prefer a custom design or allergy-friendly option, you’re welcome to bring your own.
  • Keepsake Spoon – A handcrafted wooden spoon for your little one to take home as a memento.

    • How to prepare for your little one’s cake smash session

    Planning ahead will help make the day smooth and stress-free. Here’s what to keep in mind:

    Timing: If you’d like photos ready for party invitations or decorations, consider booking the session a few weeks before your little one’s birthday.

    Outfit Coordination: Matching or complementary outfits for family members make group shots extra special.

    Snacks & Treats: Some little ones are hesitant with new textures or sweetness. Bring their favourite snacks and we’ll sneak them into the cake to encourage them to get messy.

    Extra Clothes: Bring a change of clothes (and socks!) for everyone – icing in the grips of tiny fingers will end up spread everywhere, including all over you!

    Towel Ready: After the splash session, you’ll need a towel to dry off your little one.
